La Diab Fish (The Devil Fish) is a new public art collaboration with Preston Singletary at Seattle Center’s Climate Pledge Arena. It was recently installed for the grand opening. The Pacific Giant Octopus is one of the legendary creatures of the Salish Sea. Positioned on a lower southwest plaza in 1st and Thomas Street La Diab Pish will greet visitors arriving from the Southwestcorner of Climate Pledge Arena.
It is a project sure to make an unforgettable impression and evoke the words, “Meet me at the Octopus…” Destined to become an iconic part of the Seattle Center’s art collection. Made from stainless steel and glass in a pan-coastal style, combined with elements of Preston’s Tlingit heritage. It was designed with respect to the Duwamish People on whose land it will find its home. The sculpture echoes from around the ring of fire with dynamic and cutting edge construction. La Diab Pish would not only be a great photo-op, but also a good luck charm imbued with a bit of magic.
