Water is the most powerful symbol of life and it seems to become more important on a daily basis. Water in all of its forms are necessary to our individually and for our civilization. It can also have the power to create plenty, or to destroy and displace through its over or under abundance. It is from water from which we all emerged in the distant past and without water we can only survive a few days.
Reflect on the meaning of water and ripples as you look at the reflections in the balconies and understand that in water we can see ourselves.
With Denise Joseph of Nine Dot Arts, we worked with Brad Machat and Peter van Overbeek of Quarterra. Together we designed the look of the balconies. They were to be fabricated by Advanced Ironworks in Redmond, Washington.
